How to Reignite Creativity
Finding that “spark” again while balancing work & Life.
It was the beginning of September this year when I started revisiting, and reading a few old blogs I posted years ago. I found myself reflecting on them and how I was. Why did I stopped writing? The first thing that came to my mind was procrastination, the lack of consistency, and how easily I let distractions take over. Slowly, my passion drifted away, buried beneath the surface of everyday hustle.
Life often feels like a riding a unicycle, constantly shifting to maintain balance—the responsibilities at work, day to day life, and the continuous to-do-lists. It’s easy to lose the momentum that once fuelled our passion for something—exploration, creativity, and self discovery.
But here’s the tea: The spark isn’t gone. It’s simply sleeping, waiting for you to reignite it.
Many of us feel the pressure of a full-time job while dreaming of traveling, discovering other cultures, expressing your artistic side, or simply finding time to breathe. I’m always grateful for the life I have, but for years, I struggled to find balance. Wondering if it was even possible to do them all at the same time. Was I just chasing an impossible thing?
Then there was this light-bulb moment, I realized something—Balance doesn’t mean doing all the things you want, all the time. It’s about creating space for the things that matter the most to you, even if it’s in tiny, intentional moments. It’s about finding joy in the small pockets of your day—whether that’s practicing a new hobby, planning a trip, or simply getting lost in the creative spectrum of a project that you started.
Traveling doesn’t need to be across the globe.
It can be a simple exploration of new places nearby or discovering new experiences like stepping outside of a usual routine. On my days off, I enjoy sitting in a coffee shop or exploring new ones, where I spend time meeting friends, working on a project, or simply being present in the moment. I love rediscovering familiar places with fresh eyes, finding inspiration in the tiny details. Whether it’s a conversation with a local, or simply observing how different cultures work, it’s through these connections that you gain insights into different ways of life. After all, adventure isn’t about the miles, it’s the richness of the experiences we collect along the way.
Creativity should be complementing not overwhelming.
Often we think that creativity is something grand—at least for me, I used to think that it must be a beautiful project, like painting a masterpiece, or writing a novel, but it can also be taking time to explore new hobbies without pressure, or finding new ways to solve an issue. Many times an idea or inspiration sparks in brief, unexpected moments—be it in a quiet walk, during a conversation, or daydreaming. These ideas or moments though seemingly small but they can be nurture and develop into something more larger.
The take away is, remembering that you are more than just your work, you are not just an Employee.
You’re an artist, a traveler, a creator, you’re a person who has ideas, experiences, and dreams waiting to be uncovered—deep within us, there are desires, or potentials that we might not yet fully-recognize, or we lack the courage to go after them. They’re tucked-away beneath our daily-life, but they are still there, they evolve with us waiting to be discovered.
The spark begins with allowing yourself to explore, try, even when it feels overwhelming. It’s showing up for yourself every day even when it’s not easy. It’s not always easy—there will be times that the balance between life and work feels like tipping off. But in embracing the process, you’ll slowly feel the creative energy, curiosity, and the heart of adventure.
So let’s start again, let’s create space, and take actions allowing the spark to ignite. Wether through travel, creative expression, or simply reconnecting with what makes us feel alive.
